The students of 9thstd of Bala Vidya Mandir went on a field trip to the INS Rajali Naval Air Base at Arakkonam on 10th January 2019. The trip started at 5.45 am when the bus full of students started the journey to Arakkonam. The bus reached the base at 8.00, after which the students were split into four groups to enter the base. They were taken around the base to see the interesting world of the Indian Navy.

First, they were taken to the airplane hangar where they got to see a PI 8, latest war planes which the navy sources from the US. The Helicopter Training Centre where Naval officers are trained to man helicopters for rescue operations was shown next. The students were shown the Chetak, India's smallest rescue helicopter. After this, the students visited the Naval museum, where they were shown a video about the achievements of India's brave Navy. They explored the museum for a while and looked at pictures and models of Navy ships and planes.

The Chief Air Traffic Controller showed them around the Air Traffic Control Room and answered their questions. Finally, they visited the Meteorology Centre where the officers keep a check on the weather to ensure that it is safe for flight operations to take place. The trip ended with the students having lunch at a nearby restaurant and reaching the school at 5:30. The students enjoyed the trip which piqued their interest in the Indian Navy.
