NATURE STUDY

The students of class 11 were taken on an educational excursion to two biodiversity hotspots, Topslip and Valparai. The aim of the trip was to give the students a feel of nature in character and also to observe wild animals and exotic plants in their habitat. The trip lasted for 3 days with the train departing with the students of class 11 B and three teachers, on 13th February 2014 and returned early on 16th February 2014.

The group proceeded to Topslip on the first day, and spent the day observing elephants, old and young, tame and wild in the Parambikulum tiger reserve. A wide variety of flora was also seen along with some brightly coloured bird life. The students were taken to visit an elephant nursery, where government elephants were trained for laborious tasks. The students and the teachers called it a day after enjoying a camp fire.

On the second day, the students and the teachers proceeded to Valparai . On the way, the group went to Aaliyar dam project and the Aanaimalai Tiger Reserve . They  enjoyed the slight splatter of the rain and cool weather that the altitude brought about. After a filling lunch, the students and teachers proceeded to a temple and a few viewpoints to admire the beauty of the place.

The trip added to the students gained valuable knowledge about biodiversity and they returned back with some unforgettable memories.
