The Interact club of Bala Vidya Mandir took a noble step forward in its endeavour to encourage the spirit of selfless service towards fellow beings. A host of activities were conducted to instill empathy and generosity among students. One such activity was directed by raising funds  for the day care centre and Oncopathology laboratory of Udhavum Ullangal at Thirunelveli. A cheque of Rs.2 Lakhs was handed over at a special function on 10th November 2014 to Mr. Shankar Mahadevan, the founder of Udhavum Ullangal.

Mr. T.S. Krishna Murthy Former Election Commissioner, Advisor and Committee Member Udhavum Ullangal , Mr. Ramesh Kumar, the trustee member, Mr. S.S. Nathan, C.E.O. BVM Group of schools, Mr. Srinivasa Raghavan, Principal and the members of the Parent Teacher Association executive committee were also present.

‘Udhavum Ullangal’ was founded by Mr. Shankar Mahadevan in the year 2000 to help the poor and the needy. Mr. T.S. Krishna Murthy spoke on the joy of giving and about the toil of the poor  children at Sivakasi and encouraged the students to donate generously for the education of poor children. He also emphasised on the need to keep vices like jealousy, greed and anger under control quoting richly from the Thirukkural and Shakespeare’s ‘Quality of Mercy’. He highlighted on students delving from the rich experiences of elders to imbibe good values. The programme ended with the ‘Vote of Thanks’ by the Interact Club President Kavya Balaji.
