Lathangi Club

The word "Culturals" in the present academic society has varied meanings according to different activities that come under the banner of "Inter school Cultural Festival". It is the aim of this club to provide its members with an insight into the more valued skills in competence and excellence so as to help them shine in society. The club functins in various units, some of them being Music, Bhajans and Sanskrit Slokas which help in inspiring the students in the path of devotion, which is the backbone of our Indian Music and Scriptures.

LATHANGI CLUB ACTIVITIES

The Lathangi club was inaugurated in the month of July. The Lathangi club members from classes 7th to 11th  attended the meeting. Office bearers were selected from class XI and different activities of the club were discussed.

2015 - 16


The Office bearers for the year 2015 – 16 were President – B.Shruthi ,Secretary – H.Pooja, Programme Co-ordinator – Sadhana Smruthi of class XI.

In view of the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations, the Lathangi Club of Bala Vidya Mandir  organized a three day music  festival on 15th,16th and 17th September 2015 . S.Niveditha Alumni of Bala Vidya Mandir and Ms. Pavithra Mahesh, carnatic veena player and vocalist  both were  the chief guests .


Students of classes IV and V (Kalalaya) gave a Dance and Mridangam performance. The highlight of the festival was the teachers group Bhajan during the third day of the celebration .  Students participated in the celebrations rendering Bhajans and solo performances accompanied by various instruments.


Bhagavadgita competitions were held for the students of classes V – X. Students of classes VI – XI  rendered Tirupaavai during the  assembly in the month of Maargazhi  to inculcate our tradition and culture in the young minds. Sloka competition will be held for classes 3,4,& 5 during the month of February 2016.

LATHANGI CLUB REPORT – 2014 -2015


The Lathangi Club of Bala Vidya Mandir was inauguarated by our Principal Mr.R.Srinivasa Raghavan.


Office bearers were selected from class XI. President – Vishruthi Girish, Secretary – Neeraja shankar, Programme Co-ordinator – Haritha.A.


In view of the Vinayaka Chaturthi celebrations, the Lathangi Club of Bala Vidya Mandir  organized a three day music  festival on 27th ,28th and 29th of August 2014. Ms.N.Shivani and Ms.Bhavna.U  both Alumni of Bala Vidya Mandir were  the chief guests for the first two days respectively. Mrs.Gayathri Girish was the Chief Guest for the third day of the celebration.


Students participated in the celebrations rendering Bhajans and solo performances accompanied by various instruments. The highlight of the three day extravaganza was the group performance by  the Kalalaya students of BVM, Adyar.  
- Classical Dance by girls of class IV & V and
- Mridangam by the boys of class IV and V 

Bhagavadgita competitions was held for the students of classes V – X. Students of classes VI – XI will be  rendering Tirupaavai during the  assembly in the month of Maargazhi  to inculcate our tradition and culture in the young minds.

LATHANGI CLUB REPORT – 2013 -2014

The Lathangi club of Bala Vidya Mandir organised a performance of Raasa – lilaa by “ Padma Sri” Guru Thanil singh and his group. “Padma Sri” Guru Thanil Singh and his group  of dancers performed the Pung cholam Drum dance followed by a Manipuri CLasssical Dance by the female dancers named Raas Sankirthan. The performance involved a composite action between the is singer – dancers and the drum dancers. The singers performed while standing, played rhythmic cymbals and enacted the meaning of the songs through expressive gestures, the lead singer often narrated few parts of the story in speech. The drum playing was accompanied by vigorous jumps and aerobatic turns. The Raas Sankirthan presented the story of Lord Krishna through a soulful dance drama. The dancers, dressed up in the traditional Manipuri classical attire , transported the audiences to the divine land of Gopikas and Gopalas through soulful dances, songs and dramas by the artists from Manipur was well linked and appreciated by the audience.
