The Math Club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted a “TESSELATION” activity for the students of Class IV. Tessellation is an art of tiling a given surface with one or more geometrical shapes without leaving a gap. The students were provided with a dotted grid on which they created colourful tiling patterns. The activity provided the students, a platform to understand symmetry in shapes and also exhibit their creative skills
The Math Club of Bala Vidya Mandir organized an activity session for students of class III on the 20th of February, 2018. It was an enthralling session where the students very enthusiastically constructed designs they imagined. The session provided a wonderful platform for all students to display their talent and creativity. The class was lively and all the students were excited to learn about the practical significance of the theoretical concepts that they learnt in class.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – Power Point Presentation on the topic “Introduction to Trigonometry” for the students of class IX on 23rd and 24th of January 2019. The students explained the History of trigonometry, the trigonometric ratios, application of trigonometry, reciprocal ratios etc., in the form of PPT. This activity gave them an opportunity to explore beyond their syllabus and extend their knowledge
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir organized MAGIC SQUARE activity for the students of class VI on 10th January 2019. The students enjoyed the activity and filled the square grid in such a way that each cell contains a different number and the sum of the numbers in each row, column and diagonal are equal. This activity enhanced their arithmetic ability.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – “Unscramble the words” for the students of class VII on 3rd December 2018. The students were asked to unscramble a range of different words related to math. This activity helped the students to recollect different mathematical words.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – “NET DIAGRAM of 3D SOLIDS” for the students of class VIII on 3rd December 2018. The students were asked to draw a 2D shape that can be folded to form a 3D shape. This activity helped the students to understand about Edges, Vertices and Faces.
Math club of BalaVidyaMandir conducted an activityFraction puzzle for the students of class 5 on 27th Sep 2018. Students thoroughly enjoyed this activity as it provided them an opportunity to recall basic operations involving fractions with the time limit in a competitive way.
The Math Club of BalaVidyaMandir conducted a “ CROSS NUMBER” activity for the students of Class IV.
The activity involved the students to solve mathematical clues on basic operations to fill the given grid. It provided a good opportunity for the students to exhibit their number crunching skills coupled with accuracy and speed in fundamental mathematics.
The Math club of BalaVidyaMandir conducted an activity – ‘EIGHT POINT CIRCLE” for the students of class VII on 12th September 2018. The students were given printed copies of circles with eight equallyspaced dots placed on its circumference. They were asked to draw quadrilaterals by joining any four points.
The activity helped the students to approach the concept of quadrilaterals in a systematic manner. It also enhanced their visual comprehension skills.
The Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted a poster making activity on the topic “Fun with Math” for the students of class VIII on 14th September 2018. The students were asked to work in groups, plan, prepare and present the activity. The students were able to explore various interesting facts in Math.
This activity created a platform for the students to develop their soft skills such as decision making, division of work and team spirit.
Math club of BalaVidyaMandir organized TANGRAM activity for the students of class VI on 17th September 2018. The students enjoyed making different shapes using “Tangrams” within the given time. The activity enhanced their creativity. This also helped them to improve their spatial reasoning by flipping and rotating the puzzle pieces.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted MATH QUIZ for students of classes 10 A,B,C on 12.09.2018 in their respective classes. The students of class 12 were the quiz masters. Students of class 10 participated with zeal in the quiz consisting of two intersecting rounds of math related questions.
Math club of BalaVidyaMandir organised group activity “MATH MIND IN ME” for the students of class 11 on 30.08.2018. The students are asked to prepare and present on the topics Exponential series and Logarithmic series. The students made power point presentation and chart to explain the concept. The activity turned out to be highly enriching, enthralling andexciting for all the students.
Math club of BalaVidyaMandir conducted CROSSWORD PUZZLE for the students of class IX on 29th August 2018, in their respective class rooms. The students participated enthusiastically and eagerly found out the answers to the puzzle given. This activity made the students to think and analyse a few mathematical terms.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity power point presentation for students of classes 9 A,B,C on 08.01.2018 in their respective classes. They gave the introduction to trigonometry, different types of trigonometry and its application. Students participated in the activity enthusiastically.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity –MODEL MAKING USING 3D SHAPES for the students of class VIII on 11TH and 13 of December 2017. The students participated enthusiastically and created models using different geometrical shapes. To name a few are, geometrical shapes in the historical monuments, geometry in food items, and geometry in architecture. This activity enabled the students to think out of the box.
The math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted a collage making making activity for the students of class IV on the 19th of December, 2017. It was a very interesting session where the students created beautiful collages using cutouts of various geometrical shapes and their fractions. The activity provided a wonderful platform for all students to display their creativity and explore a new area of interest. The class was lively and all the students were excited to learn about the practical significance of the theoretical concepts that they had learnt in class.
POSTER MAKING – Cleanliness drive in school, Slogans Display.
The Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity “Cleanliness drive in school, Slogans Display ”. The students of Class X participated in this activity enthusiastically by doing extensive research and colourful charts as a part of their work education activity. The activity involved displaying slogans and interesting methods to create an awareness on cleanliness and being environment friendly.
The students of CLASS VI were involved in a Symboku activity, as a part of their Math Club activity. Symboku is a game which uses mathematical symbols and the objective of the game is to have all the given nine symbols in a row and in squares of nine.
The students actively participated in the activity with a lot of interest.This activity helped the students to stimulate their logical thinking and pattern.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – “Unscramble the words” for the students of class VII on 27th October 2017. The students were given a set of jumbled words. They had to rearrange them to find the words related to math. This activity helped the students to recall various mathematical terms.
Math club of BalaVidya Mandir conducted Brainteaser activitySudoku puzzle for the students of class 5 on 18th Sep 2017. This activity provided a platform to apply their logic to figure out the next blank in the grid and eventually improve the number skills. Students thoroughly enjoyed this activity and it was a good exercise to their brain.

The students are asked to prepare on the topics Exponential series and Logarithmic series The students made power point presentation and each student explained the concept. Also the Posters were attractive and informative. The activity turned out to be highly enriching, enthralling and exciting for all the students.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity “crossword” for students of classes 9 A,B,C on 21.08.2017 in their respective classes. The terms involved were related to mathematics. Students participated in the activity enthusiastically.
The math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted a word search activity for students of class IV on the 12th September, 2017. It was a very interesting session where the students had to find the maximum number of words within the stipulated time. The activity provided a wonderful platform for all students to display their powers of observation and to enjoy some friendly competition. The class was lively and all the students were excited to be a part of this.

This activity helped the students to develop their knowledge on the types and properties of quadrilaterals.
The students of class VIII A, B and C were involved in Math Club Activity called CATCH – 20. Twenty mathematicians names were displayed. The students were divided in to groups of two and made to identify the mathematicians by giving hints to each other. This helped them to know about the mathematicians and their contributions to some extent.
The students of CLASS VI were involved in a Tangram activity. They were provided with Tangram kits. The students actively participated in the Tangram activity with a lot of interest.
Tangram: A traditional Chinese puzzle made of a square divided into seven pieces (one parallelogram, one square and five triangles) that can be arranged to match various designs. Tangram will help children to stimulate an intuitive sense of geometry and will help to understand more about patterns.
The students of classes III A, B and C participated in a collage making activity involving 2D shapes on the 17th of August 2017. The students were asked to bring paper cut outs of various 2 Dimensional shapes and create a collage using the same. The activity enabled the students to learn about various geometrical shapes and relate them to represent day to day objects. The students showed lot of eagerness and creativity while doing this activity.

The Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity called “Mathematicians and interesting anecdotes from their lives ”. The students of Class X participated in this activity enthusiastically by doing extensive research and colourful charts. This activity, which involved proving theorems and interesting anecdotes of well known mathematicians helped them to extend their knowledge in Math, and about the work of mathematicians.

It was a very interesting session where the students had to create beautiful jewels using beads of various geometrical shapes. The activity provided a wonderful platform for all students to display their creativity and explore a new area of interest. The class was lively and all the students were excited to learn about the practical significance of the theoretical concepts that they had learnt in class.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – “TANGRAM” for the students of class VI on 3rd February 2017. The students were given TANGRAM KITS which consists of 7 pieces which fit inside a square.The objective of this group activity is to form specified shapes using the kit. The students of class 6 participated enthusiastically and this activity enabled them to exhibit their creativity.
The Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity in geometry called “Extended Geometry”. The students of Class X participated in this activity enthusiastically with extensive research and colourful charts. This activity , which involved proving theorems to extend their knowledge in Geometry,helped the students to understand how the simple concepts that they learn in the classes are used to prove profound theorems beyond their syllabus.

The students are asked to prepare posters on topics Math in Dance, Math in Arts, Math in Music, Math in sports, Math in Architecture and Math in Nature. The Posters were attractive and informative. The activity turned out to be highly enriching, enthralling and exciting for all the students.
As part of the math club activity for the academic year 201617, “Sudoku” was conducted for classes V A, B & C on 8th February 2017. The students did the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Sudoku activity enabled the students to be more familiar with the solving techniques.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – Model Making (using 3 Dimensional shapes) on the topic “Volume and Surface area” for the students of class IX on 14th February 2017. The students explained the concepts of volume and surface area of cubes, cuboids, cylinders, cones and spheres through their models. This activity gave them the confidence to understand the shape and size of the above mentioned 3dimensonal solids and the usage in their models.
Math club of BalaVidyaMandir conducted Number chain activity for students of class 3 on 20th Feb 2017. It was an interesting activity in which the students have to fill in the boxes with numbers and appropriate basic operation symbols to get the answer given at the center. This activity provided an opportunity to recall the basic operations and to move to the next level.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted word search activity for the students of class 4 on Sept. 28th 2016. The students were given a grid and asked to find 20 words from it. This provided an opportunity for them to recollect the mathematical terms that they have learnt so far. The students participated with great enthusiasm.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted Drawing activity using shapes for students of class 3 on Aug 31st 2016. The students were asked to bring cut outs of 2D shapes and created posters using the same. This provided an opportunity for them to relate geometrical shapes with the objects of everyday life. The students participated with great enthusiasm.
As a part of Math club activity, interesting methods of doing basic operations were highlighted by students of class 10 to students of class 5 on Aug 24th 2016. The methodologies were taken from Vedic Math. Class 5 students enjoyed this activity thoroughly and also were able to appreciate the nuances of basic operations.

As part of the Math club activity for students of class XI, Sriraman Sridharan, Professeur d'Informatique Université de Perpignan, France gave a lecture on how problem solving can be made easy by dividing things equally and labeling with duals. He gave examples to show the need to do step by step approach The students enjoyed the lecture and participated enthusiastically. The objective of this lecture was to make students understand how problems can be solved using minimum number of steps.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir organized a guest lecture on the topic factors and multiples by Mrs. MANJULA SOMASEKHARAN a post graduate teacher in department of mathematics in Bala Vidya Mandir. The session was very interesting and students participated enthusiastically. The students interacted well and had a better clarity on factors and multiples.
Maths club of Bala Vidya Mandir organised an activity MAGIC SQUARE for the students of class VIII . they solved two grids of magic square following the rules given to them . Student displayed lot of interest and enthusiasm while solving the magic square displayed .This activity helped them to improve there creativity and computational skills.
The students of class X participated in a quiz as part of the Math Club activity. The students of Class X were divided into four groups according to the four houses. The quiz consisted of three rounds with challenging questions. The students enjoyed the activity and everyone involved themselves in answering the questions. The objective of conducting the quiz was to give the students an opportunity to hone their thinking skills in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – ‘MATH IN KOLAM’ for the students of class IX on 2nd August 2016. The students explained the concepts such as HCF, Symmetry, Matrix, geometry etc., through a few traditional kolams with the help of the charts. This activity gave them an idea about how mathematical concepts are involved in creating kolams.

FEBRUARY 2016
As part of the Math club activity, model making was conducted for the students of class IX. The students were divided into groups . The students applied the formulae and extended their knowledge to combination of solid shapes. The students enjoyed the activity and participated enthusiastically. The objective of conducting this activity was to make models using the concept of volume and surface area of various solids.
As part of the math club activity for the academic year 201516, “Sudoku” was conducted for classes V A, B & C on 8th February 2016. The students did the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm. The Sudoku activity enabled the students to be more familiar with the solving techniques.
The Math Club of Bala Vidya Mandir Sr.Sec School conducted a “JEWELLERY MAKING” activity for the students of Classes IV A,B, and C on the 8th of February 2016. The activity involved in making different kinds of jewellery using various mathematical shapes. They used readymade beads available in shops and some even made their shapes out of clay, terracotta or paper quilling.
The activity was received with great interest and enthusiasm by not only girls, but equally by boys. The classroom atmosphere was filled with a lot of excitement and enthusiasm.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted CROSSWORD PUZZLE for the students of class VII on 2nd February 2016. The students participated enthusiastically and explored the possible ways of fitting the answers in the grid from the given clues.
JANUARY 2016
Students of class VIII were asked to do MAGIC SQUARE in the class. They were asked to complete a 4x4 magic square using the numbers 1 to 16 in which sum of diagonals, rows and columns must be equal to 34. They enjoyed doing the activity and also explored all possible ways to get the solutions.

Children showed a lot of interest and enthusiasm while the activity was being conducted.
November 2015
Math club conducted “Number chain”, an activity for the academic year 201516 for classes III A, B & C on 6th November 2015. The students were given two number chain activities. This activity enhanced the mental calculation skill of the students and enabled them to be more thorough with the basic operations in math.
SEPTEMBER 2015
The Math Club of Bala Vidya Mandir Sr.Sec School conducted a “WORD SEARCH” activity for the students of Classes IV A,B, and C on the 9th September 2015. The activity involved in finding mathematical words/ phrases and terms from an alphabetical grid.
The students took part in the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm. The classroom atmosphere was filled with a lot of excitement and competitive spirit.
AUGUST 2015
Math Club of Bala Vidya Mandir organised a guest lecture for class 12 students on 25th August 2015. Dr.Viswanath from Indian Institute of Mathematical Sciences shared his knowledge about “Interpolation” .Students enjoyed the session and learnt how the complexity of the subject can unwind from simple known facts to unknown concepts. The session was well received by the students and was enlightening.
Math club conducted “Mosaic patterns using 2D shapes”, an activity for the academic year 201516 for classes III A, B & C on 21st August 2015. The students were given A4 size colour papers on which they created mosaic patterns using 2 D shapes. This activity enhanced the creativity of the students and enabled them to be more thorough with two dimensional shapes.

Math club organized a group seminar for class XI students on 18th August 2015 on the topic of exponents and logarithmic series. Some groups came with the PPT presentation whereas others explained the concept using whiteboard.Students thoroughly enjoyed the activity which had a lot of learning outcomes, some of which are learning on their own, facing an audience and confidently wielding questions from the teachers and their peer groups.
As part of the math club activity for the academic year 201516, “Fun With Math Tricks” was conducted for classes V A, B & C on 3rd August 2015. The students of Class X taught them different interesting math tricks such as magic box, finding the square of a number that ends with 5 & 9 and multiplying two digit numbers by 11. The students learnt the tricks with great enthusiasm. This activity helped the students to think and apply these tricks.

POSTER MAKING  MATH IN ARCHITECTURE
As part of the Math Club activity, the students of class IX prepared and presented posters to explain the concept of Math in Architecture. The children were divided in groups of six members each. The students discussed the geometrical concepts in Mathematics and extended their knowledge by bringing forth its application in construction of buildings, monuments and pyramids. The children enjoyed the activity and participated enthusiastically. The objective of conducting this activity was to make the students aware of the application of Mathematics in everyday life.
NET WORKING
Math club of BVM organized an interesting activity for class 8 students. They were asked to create a connection between two islands subjected to given rules on a network provided in a printed sheet. They enjoyed the activity and also explored all possible ways to get the unique solution.

FIBONACCI SERIES
The Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir organized a guest lecture on Fibonacci Series for the students of class VI on 24th June 2015. This lecture was presented by Mrs. Seethalakshmi, Department of Mathematics, BVM, Adyar. It was an interactive and interesting session, where the relationship between concept of Fibonacci series and nature was explained. The students enjoyed the session.

As part of the math club activity for the academic year 201415, a sudoku activity was conducted for classes IV A, B & C on 12th February 2015. The students solved the Sudoku with great zeal and zest. This activity enhanced the concentration of the students and enabled them to be more attentive.
As part of the math club activity for the academic year 201415, a quiz was conducted for classes V A, B & C on 10th February 2015. A quiz prelim was conducted and four children from each section were chosen for the finals. The questions for the finals were prepared by two of the class X students. The students participated with great enthusiasm. There were five rounds for each team. They were very inquisitive in answering and also learning the unknown.

The students discussed the concept of volume and surface area of regular solids and extended their knowledge by bringing forth its application in everyday life. JANUARY 2015
The students of class IX made collages on the topic ‘Symmetry in nature’ on 6th January 2015 as part of the Math Club activity. The children were divided in groups of five members each. The students collected pictures depicting symmetry in nature and displayed their creative skills in collating those pictures in the form of a collage. The children enjoyed the activity and participated enthusiastically. The objective of conducting this activity was to make the students visualize art in Mathematics.
DECEMBER
The math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted Project based on Mensuration for classes VII  A, B & C on 17th December 2015. The students presented the concept of area and perimeter of various plane figures in a chart. This activity enabled them to understand the concept and relate it to real life applications.

On 21st November, 2014, all the students of class XII as part of their mathematics club activity attended Guest lecture by Dr.K.N.Ragavan on the topic PERMUTATION AND COMBINATION. The session was very informative and the interaction between the Guest and the Students was praise worthy.

As part of the Math Club activity, the students of class XI attended a guest lecture on November 6th 2014 in the school premises . The speaker was Mr. B.Srivathsan, a faculty from Chennai Mathematical Institute. He spoke on Number Theory and its applications in Cyber Security.The students enjoyed the session immensely as it was highly informative.
OCTOBER
As a part of the math club activity for the academic year 201415, “ Number Chain” was conducted for classes III A, B & C on 30th October 2014.The students did the activity with great enthusiasm and ease. The number chain activity was based on filling up numbers and basic mathematical operations. The activity enabled the students to become more familiar with basic concepts in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
SEPTEMBER
As part of the math club activity for the academic year 201415, a Model making activity was conducted for classes IV A, B & C on 18th September 2014. The students brought the objects related to mathematical shapes for the activity and assembled them to make models. This activity enhanced the creativity of the students and enabled them to be more familiar with the 2 and 3 dimensional shapes.
As a part of the math club activity for the academic year 201415, “FUN WITH SHAPES” was conducted on 9th September 2014 for class 3. The students were encouraged to create a picture of their choice using only geometrical shapes. They had a lot of fun doing this activity as they could relate daytoday objects in terms of geometrical shapes.
AUGUST
The math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted Model Making activity using 3D Shapes for classes VII  A, B & C on 25th August 2014. The students presented various models using 3D shapes. They related the concept of the shapes to the things around them. This activity helped them to enhance their creativity.
As part of the math club activity for the academic year 201415, a Word search activity was conducted for classes V A, B & C on 26th August 2014. The students did the activity with great zeal and enthusiasm. The word search activity was on mathematical terms and it enabled the students to be more familiar with the terms and their spelling.

NUMBER GAME
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – Number game for the students of class VI on 25th July 2014. The students participated enthusiastically and found the factors and multiples for the number circled by their partners. This activity enabled the students to understand what are factors and multiples of a given number and also about prime numbers.
WRITTEN PUZZLE
On 18th July, 2013, all the students of class XII as part of their mathematics club activity participated in WRITTEN PUZZLE. The enthusiasm with which the students participated in the activity was praise worthy.

Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity – POSTER MAKING for the students of class VIII on 17th July 2014. The students participated enthusiastically and explained the posters made by them on various topics like Math in Dance, Math in Music, Math in Sports etc,. This activity gave the students to be confident to relate Mathematics with different fields.

JANUARY 2014
The students of class X participated in a quiz as part of the Math Club activity which was conducted on 23rd January 2014. The students of Class X were divided into four groups with four members each according to the four houses. The quiz consisted of three rounds with challenging questions and Math trivia forming a part of the problems asked.The students enjoyed the activity as even the audience was involved in answering the questions. Kanchenjunga House emerged the winners of the quiz. The objective of conducting the quiz was to give the students an opportunity to hone their analytical skills in the true spirit of sportsmanship.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir organized TANGRAM activity for the students of class VI on 8th of January 2014. The students enjoyed making different shapes in the given time. This activity enhanced their creativity
The students of Class VII presented projects on Mensuration as part of their Math club activity. The students were divided into groups and each group was assigned two plane figures viz. square, rectangle, triangle, circle etc. The students as a group had to present a chart on the perimeter and area of the plane figures allotted to them with a mention of a practical usage of the figure. It was an interesting and informative activity since each student drew the figures on a sheet and solved problems based on the formulae they presented.

DECEMBER 2013
The students of class IX solved the Sudoku as part of the Math Club activity on 23rd December 2013. The children were divided in groups of two students each. The students participated in the activity enthusiastically. The objective of conducting this activity was to enhance the analytical skill of the students.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted Number chain for the students of class VII on 18th December 2013, in their respective class rooms in their periods. This activity tested their ability to do quick calculations as they had to complete a number chain using mathematical operations. The students participated with interest.
The students of class 4 took part in Cross word puzzle held on 9th December 2013 as part of the Math club activity for the year 20132014. The objective of the activity was to kindle the competitive skills of the children and to increase their computational skills. They were given a cross word puzzle with clues to solve. Students tried to solve with great zeal and enthusiasm. Most of them were able to solve the sums with basic operations within a very short span of time correctly. Most of the students completed the puzzle on time.
NOVEMBER
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted WRITTEN QUIZ for the students of class VI on 29th November 2013, in their respective class rooms in their periods. The students participated enthusiastically and calculated problems with Zeal. This activity helped the students to be confident.
OCTOBER
On 30th October, 2013, all the students of class XI as part of their mathematics club activity participated in WORD HUNT. The enthusiasm with which the students participated in the activity was praise worthy.
SEPTEMBER
Students of class VI participated in NUMBER GAME activity on 10th September 2013 in the respective class rooms during their maths period. They were excited to recall and to find factors and multiples.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted CROSSWORD PUZZLE for the students of class VIII on 2nd September 2013, in their respective class rooms. The students participated enthusiastically and eagerly found out the answers to the puzzle given. This activity made the students to think out of box.
AUGUST
The students of Class X participated in a Power point presentation on “Trigonometry” as part of their Math club activity on 29th August 2013. The students were divided into groups of five members and each group was expected to explain various mathematical concepts using smart board. The students explained the concept to their peers. They took up topics like introduction, complementary angles, trigonometric identities… to name a few. The students enjoyed themselves and the activity made the students to learn the concepts thoroughly.
The students of class 4 took part in Sudoku on 29th August 2013 as part of the Math club activity for the year 20132014. The objective of the activity was to kindle the competitive skills of the children and increase their computational skills. They were given one 4 by 4 sudoku and one 9 by 9 sudoku to solve. Students tried to solve with great zeal and enthusiasm. Most of them were able to solve the 4 by 4 Sudoku within a very short span of time correctly. They completed the puzzle mostly on time.
Drawing competition using mathematical shapes was conducted by Math Club for students of class 3 on 29th Aug. 2013. The objective of this session is to enable the students to identify and relate the shapes in the things around them. This provided one more platform for them to know how beautifully Math is woven into our life.
As a club activity Class VII students took a written quiz on 26th August 2013. Students participated enthusiastically and enjoyed. This will enable the students to attend more quiz in future. Students were able to think beyond the textbook
On behalf of math club, a guest lecture was organized on 24 th of August , 2013 in our school premises. Dr.S.Viswanath , a senior Professor in Indian Institute of Mathematical Sciences,Chennai spoke to the students of class XII on the topic “ Partitions in Number Theory” .The lecture was very interesting and simple enough to kindle the curiosity of the students.The objective was to create an interest in 12th graders to pursue Math in their higher studies.
The students of class IX participated in a written quiz as part of the Math Club activity on 21st August 2013. The children solved a quiz based on Math trivia with the help of clues given. The students enjoyed the activity. The objective of conducting the quiz was to give the students an opportunity to find out about Mathematicians and appreciate the lighter side of Mathematics.
The Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir had arranged a guest lecture for the students of class VI on the topic ‘Maths is Fun’ on 2nd August 2013. Mrs.Jegatha Suresh,HOD,Department of Mathematics had an interactive session through stories and ppt.She also taught them multiplication of number by 25 and square of numbers ending with 5.The students enjoyed and understood the concept with fun filled activities.The objective of the session was to develop an interest in the subject amongest the students.
JULY
The students of class XI on 24th July 2013participated in a quiz as part of the Math Club activity. The children were divided into four teams on the basis of their houses and were exposed to four rounds of competitive quizzing. The participants and audience also participated enthusiastically. It was an informative and interesting session.The quiz gave an opportunity to the students to think beyond the text book.
The students of class VII made MODELS using 3D SHAPES on 24th July as part of the Math Club activity. The children participated enthusiastically and completed the activity within the stipulated time. It was amazing. It was displayed in the classroom for the other students to look at the model.
Ms Geetha was the judge. It enhanced the creativity of the students.The children enjoyed it very much.
The students of class IX on 23rd July 2013 solved a Crossword Puzzle on Mathematical terms as part of the Math Club activity. The children completed the crossword on terms used in Mathematics with the help of clues given. The students found the activity intriguing and they learned math the fun way. The objective of the activity was to give the students an opportunity to recapitulate what they have learnt.
Math club of Bala Vidya Mandir conducted an activity  FORMING 3D MESH for the students of class VIII on 22nd July 2013, in their respective class rooms. The students participated enthusiastically and explained their 3D models along with the net. This activity gave the students to be confident to make any 3D Shapes using the net.
The students of class X completed the number chain as part of the Math Club activity on 9th July 2013. The children were supposed to complete a chain of numbers by filling in arithmetic operations to achieve the required solution. The activity provided an opportunity to apply their arithmetic operations. The children found the activity interesting and participated enthusiastically.
