BVM MUN 2017

Bala Vidya Mandir Model United Nations conference was conducted on 13th and 14th October 2017 at the school premises. Mrs Arpita Maitra Assistant Professor MOP Vaishnav College gave the Key note address, where she spoke on the significance of International Relations. Students of Class X and selected students of Class XI participated. The students of Class XII conducted the Model United Nations and chaired the various committees. Students were divided into 6 committees Security Council, Disarmament and Security Council, Human Rights Commission, Economic and Social Council, United Nations Environment Programme and Joint Crisis Committee. Various topics like Syrian Civil War, Situation in South China Sea, Racial Profiling and hate crimes against Asians and Africans, State funding of Terrorism and Global Climate change with respect to Paris Agreement were discussed by the student delegates. This year the students experienced a new committee the Joint Crisis Committee with the Agenda remilitarization of Rhineland in 1936 and the advent of World War II. An emergency crisis was conducted on Day 2 and the students participated enthusiastically. Awards for Best Delegate, Best Position Paper and Special Mention were given to the Delegates. The Bala Vidya Mandir Model United Nations provides a good learning experience for the students, where the students learn to research, debate and resolve conflicts through diplomacy and dialogue.
