PARTNERSHIP WITH WOODHOUSE GROVE SCHOOL ,UNITED KINGDOM

 Mr. Peter Robert Lambert , International Coordinator, Woodhouse Grove School, Bradford, Leeds, United Kingdom visited Bala Vidya Mandir and BVM Global group of schools from 9th of July to 17th of July, 2014.
         

Bala Vidya Mandir in partnership with Woodhouse Grove School applied for a Grant from the British Council under the UK aid, Connecting Classrooms  Programme. This programme allows both the institutions to do collaborative projects together to address major global issues. Bala Vidya Mandir and Woodhouse Grove School aim to work on recycling of paper and saving of fuel so that we can conserve trees.
      

Mr. Peter attended the recycling of paper project in Bala Vidya Mandir and intends to execute the same in his school. He observed classes and interacted with the staff of BVM sharing with them the teaching practices of his school. He visited BVM Global group of schools and interacted with the students through Skype. Mr. Peter is interested in music and greatly appreciated Indian music, he also played the bagpipe for the students of Bala Vidya Mandir.

Mr. Peter’s visit was informative and marked the beginning of a sustainable partnership with Woodhouse Grove School.

AN EXCHANGE PROGRAME CONNECTING CLASSROOMS

During the end of October, Mrs. Uma Shankari, a senior teacher from Bala Vidya Mandir visited Woodhouse Grove School as part of this programme and to take this initiative of connecting these schools further. She planted a cherry sapling under the tree plantation project taken up by Woodhouse Grove School to support the cause of conservation of the environment. Mrs. Uma Shankari got an opportunity to interact with the teaching fraternity there and was able to study their method of teaching. She also visited places which brought forth the 200 year old history of Woodhouse Grove School.
